Hollywood News Roundup: Social Reckoning Sinks to $4.01M, Street Fighter Tracking Slashed & More (Oct 13, 2026)

Your daily Hollywood briefing for October 13, 2026 — the seven stories that matter, in two minutes.

1. Social Reckoning sinks to $4.01M in Monday actuals

Final Monday actuals made a bad weekend worse: Aaron Sorkin's The Social Reckoning managed just $4.01 million — down from the $5.5M Sunday estimate — landing at #7. A brutal result for a $30M prestige film from the writer of The Social Network.

2. Street Fighter tracking slashed to $22-29M

Paramount's Street Fighter keeps sliding: fresh tracking points to a $22-29M domestic opening, way down from the $30-40M range just weeks ago. Press screenings are set for late Wednesday afternoon only, with the embargo possibly holding until Thursday — the classic nervous-studio playbook. The "Bonus Round" IMAX fan event on Thursday, October 15 at 7pm is the first real word-of-mouth test.

3. Disney's Hexed trailer wins over skeptics

Disney's new trailer for Hexed (November 25) is getting a surprisingly warm reception. Hailee Steinfeld voices Billie Doe, a teen pulled into a witch realm, with Rashida Jones, Walton Goggins as a three-eyed magical cat, and Jodie Foster as villainous Queen Celeste.

4. Being Heumann trailer drops amid Oscar buzz

Apple's trailer for Being Heumann — Siân Heder's drama about disability rights activist Judy Heumann (Ruth Madeley), with Mark Ruffalo co-starring. Madeley is already generating Best Actress buzz. In theaters November 6, on Apple TV November 13.

5. Netflix debuts The Mosquito Bowl trailer

Peter Berg's WWII drama The Mosquito Bowl stars Nicholas Galitzine and Bill Skarsgård as college football stars who enlist after Pearl Harbor. In theaters October 30, streaming November 25.

6. LaKeith Stanfield and Ben Mendelsohn to lead Blumhouse's Molepeople

The Blumhouse/Atomic Monster horror Molepeople — about a twisted society in NYC's abandoned tunnels — has a date: August 27, 2027.

7. Resident Evil becomes the franchise's biggest film ever

Resident Evil has hit $320.2M worldwide ($138.5M domestic), passing The Final Chapter to become the highest-grossing entry in franchise history.

My take

Prestige flopped, tracking keeps sliding, and horror keeps printing money. October 2026 is the month Hollywood's old playbook stopped working — audiences want a reason to leave the house, and right now that reason is mostly fear.
